Here’s the most important thing to know about the upcoming episodes of American Idol.
Voting is going live. If not on Sunday night, definitely on Monday night.
So no more streaming the show after it airs, then voting for your favorite sometime overnight.
If you have a favorite, be prepared to vote for them between 8 and 10 p.m. both nights.
You’ll want to double check the Idol app or listen at the start of the show for voting details Sunday night. But the Idol press release says American will “vote live.”
And last season, two singers were sent how at the end of Rock and Rock Hall of Fame night.
The press release for Monday is more specific, saying the field will be reduced to a Top 10 by the end of the show. That means voting is definitely live that night.
You’ll need to get your votes in before the show ends, because Ryan Seacrest will be announcing two more cuts before the show ends.
You can continue to vote via the same three methods, the Idol app, the Idol website or by texting your favorite’s number to 2153.
The limit remains 10 votes per method, or a maximum of 30 votes per singer.
The Top 14 will sing songs by Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees Sunday night. The Top 12 will sing a Billboard #1 hits on Monday.
Both themes are nice and broad and should allow every member of the Top 14 select a song well suited to them.

That process means that whomever performs last will be eliminated.
Also, one of the criticisms of the later Fox years was that the show’s producers kept repeating the same themes.
The only reason that the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Week gives more leeway was because Jann Wenner began inducting country singers and rappers.
