A year after his American Idol victory, Noah Thompson released his debut EP on Friday.

The Season 20 champ dropped a six-song project called “Middle of God Knows Where,” and it almost immediately climbed into the Top 10 on Apple Music’s country albums chart.

Friday evening, it was still sitting at number seven on that chart, right between Luke Combs’ “Gettin’ Old” and Zach Bryan’s “American Heartbreak.”

Saturday afternoon, it had slipped to number 13 on the country chart but was still sitting at number 42 on the site’s overall albums chart.

The EP features Noah’s Idol single, “One Day Tonight,” a song that soared onto the charts after its release in May 2022.

It now has more than 23 million streams on Spotify alone. And Noah’s follow-up, “Make You Rich,” which is also on the EP, has racked up more than 880,000 streams.

The EP also includes a cover of Rihanna’s “Stay,” one of Noah’s most popular Idol performances en route to claiming the title.

Noah co-wrote two songs on the EP, “Us No More and the title track.

“I named the EP ‘Middle of God Knows Where’ because I felt the title track is the heart of this project and one of the first I ever co-wrote that I felt was me,” Noah, 21, said in a press statement.

“Hard to believe I’m putting out my very first project for you guys!!” he added in a social media message for fans. “My life has changed so much in such a short matter of time and it’s all because of you.”

Noah will perform at the CMA Fest this weekend and has a number of other shows scheduled through the end of the summer.
