Sam Stacy, Tanner Gomes turn 3 chairs on The Voice

Kelly Clarkson became the first coach besides John Legend to lure a four-chair turn artist to her team on Tuesday’s episode of The Voice.

She did it when 30-year-old, Houston-based Desz — who had been featured on Monday’s show — announced that she’d be joining Team Kelly.

Desz followed Tamarra Jade and Cami Clune as just the third artist to turn four chairs so far on Season 19. Tamara and Cami both joined Team John.

Before the night was over, Kelly would also land her first country artist, Tanner Gomes. He turned three chairs, but not Blake Shelton’s.

Here’s a recap of Tuesday’s show.

BEST OF THE NIGHT

The artist: Sam Stacy, 27, Lincoln, Neb.
The song: “Fire and Rain” by James Taylor
Chair turns: No one turned for most of the song. Then, near the end, Kelly, Blake and Gwen turned in rapid succession. Kelly complimented the warmth in his voice. Blake liked the believability in his approach.
His choice: Sam opted to join Team Blake.

ALSO MADE THE SHOW

The artist: Olivia Reyes, 19, Teaneck, N.J.
The song: “Falling” by Harry Styles
Chair turns: John turned early in performance. Late in the performance, Gwen turned as well. John complimented her on a gorgeous tone. The coaches are amazed to discover she performed so well with so little on-stage experience.
Her choice: Olivia decides to join Team John.

The artist: Larriah Jackson, 15, Sacramento, Calif.
The song: “I’ll Be There” by Mariah Carey
Chair turns: Gwen turned earlier in the performance. In spite of a really nice ending, Gwen was the only singer to turn. Gwen called her voice “rich and warm and dreamy” and loved the fact that she landed a young female artist.
Her choice: Larriah automatically became a member of Team Gwen.

The artist: Payton Lamar, 23, Nashville, Tenn.
The song: “Never Alone” by Tori Kelly and Kirk Franklin
Chair turns: Blake turned late in the performance. And he wound up being the only coach to turn, though Payton showed off a big voice. He said he loves the fact that she’s a female pop artist because there aren’t any other singers like her on her team.
Her choice: Payton automatically joined Team Blake.

The artist: Van Andrew, 29, Cooper, Texas
The song: “Behind Blue Eyes” by The Who
Chair turns: A series of glory notes near the end of the performance prompted chair turns from Gwen and Blake. Gwen liked the unique sound in his voice. Blake called his voice different from anything he’s heard.
His choice: Van opted to join Team Gwen.

The artist: Tanner Gomes, 28, Yuma, Ariz.
The song: “Cowboys and Angels” by Dustin Lynch
Chair turns: Kelly turned as his hit the chorus. Gwen and John also turned at the last minute, leaving the country coach as the only one not to. John complimented his rich baritone. Kelly said Tanner’s voice reminds him of old-time country.
His choice: Noting Kelly turned first, he opted to join her team.

NO CHAIR TURNS

The artist: Tony Mason, 56, Tulsa Okla.
The song: “What’s Going On”
Chair turns: No one turned, though Gwen called his voice “beautiful.”
