The song was written two weeks after one of his grandparents died, and Scotty has dedicated the video to his grandfathers.
It features lots of home footage, some of which Scotty told Rare Country he’d never seen before.
That’s because Scotty parents tended to film just about everything their children did growing up. Some of the footage was never even played back.
A month after its release, “Five More Minutes” is still in the Top 50 on the iTunes country singles chart and has reached number 31 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.
And a Grand Ole Opry performance of the song has been viewed nearly 3 million times on YouTube.
The single is just Scotty’s second in the last three years.
But since winning Season 10 of Idol, he’s released three albums and placed four singles in the Top 20 on Billboard’s country charts.
Scotty has lots of tour dates coming up. You can check them out here.
Here’s the new video.
On Facebook, Scotty writes that he thinks it’s his “favorite” among those he’s released since winning American Idol Season 10.
