Being at or near the top of the country music charts isn’t exactly unfamiliar territory for Scotty McCreery.

But doubtful he’ll complain about the chart bump he experienced after performing his latest single, “Cab in a Solo,” on American Idol Sunday night.

The morning after his Idol appearance, “Cab in a Solo” had rebounded to number two on the Apple Music country singles chart. trailing only “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” by Shaboozey.

More impressively, it had rocketed all the way to number nine on the site’s overall singles chart at a time when it’s being dominated by Taylor Swift’s new music.

Scotty auditioned for Season 10 of American Idol at age 16 and followed up his victory on the show with early chart success.

Now 30, he’s in the middle of a career renaissance fueled by his 2017 mega hit “Five More Minutes.”

Since then, he’s had seven straight singles reach at least number three on the Billboard country airplay chart. He had five straight number one singles at one point.

He’s about to release “Rise and Fall,” his fifth album on May 10. He just released a new single called “Lonely.”

And earlier this month, he achieved a childhood dream by being inducted into the Grand Ole Opry.
