Scotty McCreery didn’t have a single song-writing credit on his debut album.
That will change with his followup to 2011’s “Clear As Day.”
And we’ll get to hear one of those songs Thursday night when Scotty performs his new single, “See You Tonight,” on the American Idol results show.
The song is the lead single off his next album and was released to iTunes Tuesday.
As of 2 p.m. Wednesday, it was number 45 on iTunes’ singles download list. Check after the show Thursday, and you’ll likely see it bolt up the chart.
Scotty wrote the song with Zach Crowell and Ashley Gorley, and a press release about it indicates he’ll have a hand in writing other songs for his next album.
“I’ve been fortunate to be able to take my time making this record, and it’s been fun for me to have a hand in writing songs for the album,” McCreery said in the release.
“Clear As Day” went platinum and debuted at number one on Billboard’s country album chart and the Billboard 200. His Christmas album, released last year, was also a commercial success.
A release date hasn’t been set for the new album.
Now, check out a live version of “See You Tonight,” performed in Florida in March.
