Jen Hirsh appeared destined for the finals on Season 11 of American Idol.
Randy Jackson declared her a “pro” at her audition in Galveston. The Berklee College of Music grad sounded great every time she was featured in the early rounds. She got lots of screen time.
But she wasn’t among viewers’ top five picks to advance after the girls’ semifinals.
And she couldn’t beat out Erika Van Pelt, Jeremy Rosado and Deandre Brackensick for a wild card spot.
Now the gal from Augora Hills, Calif., has re-released her “Myself in Two” album.
The tracks are the same as when it was first released in March 2011, but they’ve been juggled. And there’s new cover art.
The album has a singer-songwriter/pop sound, and one of the best tracks is “I Won’t Hold My Breath.” It’s a duet featuring Kyle Patrick of The Click Five. He and Jen sound great together.
Here are a couple of the other songs on the 10-track collection — including the splendid “The Better Half,” from which the album title comes.
