Taylor Phelan from Season 7 of The Voice. Taylor Phelan, a Season 7 standout on The Voice, will release his debut solo album on Friday.

The 12-song indie rock collection is called “Where the Ocean Shallows” and is available for pre-order on iTunes.

Two of the 12 songs — “Monsters” and “Harvest the Moon” — have already been released as singles; I’ve embedded them below.

Two other songs — “Long Way Down” and “Forever You” — are available as immediate downloads for anyone pre-ordering the album.

In a YouTube video announcing the release, Taylor says he’s been working on the album in early 2015. Josh Niles, from Nashville, produced the album, and Taylor says he got to work with “a killer group of musicians to create these songs.

“I know you’re going to love what we created,” he says. “Musically, this is by far the best project I’ve ever been a part of.”

Formerly a member of an indie-rock band called The Canes, Taylor was 25 when he auditioned for The Voice and turned four chairs with his cover of with The Neighbourhood’s “Sweater Weather.”

He wound up making it all the way to the Top 20 before being eliminated.

Oh, and a Season 7 buddy — Matt McAndrew — will be helping Taylor celebrate the release.

They’ll both be performing at a CD release show set for Friday at the Curtain Club in Dallas. They’ll also be performing as Schubas Tavern in Chicago two nights later.

You can keep up with Taylor through his website and on Facebook, where he’s been posting snippets of the new songs and tidbits of information about each track. On Twitter, he’s simply @taylorphelan.
