Song by song grades for Team Adam

Team Adam Levine entered Monday’s Top 24 show on The Voice with just four singers.

They included Mari Jones, Kalvin Jarvis, Domenic Haynes and Betsy Ade, the singer Adam stole in the cross battles.

Of the 24 singers who performed Monday, eight will advance via fan voting. Then each coach will be able to save one artist.

Here are song by song grades for Team Adam from Monday’s show.

Betsy Ade (Team Adam) Are You Gonna Be My Girl by Jet — Judging from this high-energy performance, I bet attending a Well Known Strangers gig is a lot of fun. That’s the band Betsy fronts. Loved the way she started on the tambourine, then tossed it over her shoulder to play guitar. But this show is caused The Voice, and all the running around affected her vocal a bit. Grade: B–

Domenic Haynes (Team Adam) Love is a Losing Game by Amy Winehouse — You know what else is a losing game? A song choice and arrangement like this one on a night when half the singers are going home. And a good Voice coach would note that and perhaps steer his singer in a different direction. This was my least favorite Domenic performance, stylistically and vocally. Grade: C–

Kalvin Jarvis (Team Adam) Mine by Bazzi — This started out fine. But every time Kalvin hit that chorus, he strayed off pitch and never seemed to get that of the song down. I noticed him tinkering with his earpiece early in the performance and have to wonder if he was having trouble hearing himself. He’s much better than that vocal. Grade: C–

Mari (Team Adam) Work it Out by Beyonce — This young lady indeed worked it out, delivering a funky, confident performance. Like her sense of style too. Considering the team she’s on and her style of music, I think she’s probably a long shot to make the Top 13 on fan voting, but she deserves serious consideration for Adam’s save, especially after this performance. Grade: B
