The ladies ruled the night as the semifinals opened on American Idol Wednesday.

Twelve of the Top 24 singers took the stage for solo performances.

And three of Idol Chatter’s best grades for the night went to female singers — La’Porsha Renae, Jeneve Rose Mitchell and Sonkia Vaid.

MacKenzie Bourg, formerly a Top 20 contestant on The Voice, also impressed, turning in the best performance among the guys who sang.
