After The Voice

Voice standout Owen Danoff releases first post-show EP

Danoff advanced to the Top 11 before being eliminated from Season 10 of The Voice and vowed to deliver new music to fans as soon as possible.

He delivered on that promise Friday, releasing a six-track EP called “Love on Your Side.”

It’s actually the third major release from the 26-year-old D.C. native and serves as a followup to his fine 2014 album “Twelve Stories.”

But Owen admitted in his Voice exit interview that “Twelve Stories” was “a little bit all over the place” in terms of musical influence and direction.

For the new music, he said he was aiming for “a lyric-driven, folk-rock, a kind of Paul Simon inspired” sound.

Mission accomplished. Highlights on “Love on Your Side” include the title track, released as a single in July, and “When You’re a Lover.”

Then there’s the exceptional ballad “No Such Thing,” which won Owen first place in a lyric writing contest sponsored by American Songwriter Magazine.

Owen has a trio of shows lined up for November including one at The Strathmore in Bethesda, Md., that’s already sold out. You can check out those tour dates on his website.

You can also follow Owen through his Facebook page. On Twitter, he’s simply @owendanoff.
