Kris Allen, New Idol Music

What the critics are saying about Kris Allen’s new album

0

Season 8 Idol winner Kris Allen waited until the three-year anniversary of his Idol victory to release his second album.

“Thank You Camelia” hit stores today.

For those who haven’t heard, Camelia isn’t a person. It’s the name of a street where Kris hung out and chilled while recording the album.

Hence, the thanks.

I had more trouble finding reviews of “Thank You Camelia” than Haley Reinhart’s “Listen Up,” but here’s what I’ve found so far.

HitFix: Gives Kris a B-, saying “Allen’s music is non-challenging and perfectly pleasant and, depending upon what you want from your music, that’s either just fine or the worst indictment anyone could write.”

Entertainment Weekly: Gives Kris a B+, saying “sure, his sensitive anthems sound downright Amish next to sexier sizzlers on the Hot 100, but Allen delivers his lyrics with an earnest confidence that keeps his songs from becoming treacly, and makes Thank You Camellia a cohesive, warmhearted charmer.”

If you’re uncertain whether to buy the album after reading that, Kris is offering a free listen here.

I’ll add more reviews as they become available.
