Koryn Hawthorne released her debut album Friday.

It might be a little premature to call former The Voice standout Koryn Hawthorne unstoppable.

But is sure wouldn’t be premature to proclaim that her post-show career is off to a great start.

Koryn released her debut album — called “Unstoppable” — Friday.

It follows a lead single called “Won’t He Do It” that has been number one on the Billboard gospel singles chart for the past six weeks.

That song also has been number one or number two on the separate Billboard gospel airplay chart for an even longer period — every week since May 26.

The hit song was penned by Makeba Riddick-Woods. She also wrote the title track to the new album, which was still number four on the iTunes Christian albums chart 48 hours after its release.

In a Facebook video, Koryn explains that, in this case, “unstoppable” wasn’t meant as a self-proclamation of greatness or continued musical success.

“Stepping into this industry — especially the gospel industry — there are a lot of critics out there who think I should be more traditional with my sound, or the way I dress or even the way I look.

“But no matter what anybody says or what direction they point you in, as long as you’re on the path God has for you, nobody can stand in the way of that.

“Not to put the emphasis on me specifically that I’m unstoppable. Honestly, it’s the purpose God has for me that’s unstoppable. It’s going to be fulfilled no matter what. Basically, that’s what the record is about.”

Released under the RCA Inspiration label, “Unstoppable” the album features 10 tracks, some of which were also on Koryn’s self-titled 2017 EP. One of those songs, “Speak the Name,” has been reworked as a duet with Natalie Grant.

Koryn is currently on the Summer Lights Tour with Matthew West, Jeremy Camp and Rend Collective. In fact, the tour will stop at UMBC in Baltimore, Md., Friday (July 20). You can check out the other dates on the Summer Lights Tour website.

Koryn, from Abbeville, La., was just 16 when we met her as a contestant on Season 8 of The Voice back in the spring of 2015. She finished fourth, behind Sawyer Fredericks, Meghan Linsey and Joshua Davis.

Here’s “Down Goes Rome,” one of the standout tracks from the new album.
