2014 in review: Top 5 videos from former Voice contestants

0

As 2015 draws near, it’s time to look back at the music delivered by former contestants of The Voice in 2014.

This blog will take a look at the videos released by singers who landed a spot on the show, and there were plenty of them to peruse.

Below, I’ve picked my five favorites. Then I’ve posted every other “official” video I could find. If I’ve missed anyone, let me know and I’ll gladly add them.

A look at 15 Voice songs you shouldn’t miss, plus a list of 2014 singles released by singers from The Voice.

Now, the countdown.

5. Ashley DuBose, “Perfect”

Perfect is what I thought of Ashley’s voice the first time I researched Ms. DuBose after she turned four chairs in the Season 4 blind auditions. Unfortunately, she ran into eventual winner Tessanne Chin in the knockout round and was eliminated. She released this single in late October. You’ve gotta love the simple special effects with the picture frames.

4. Cassadee Pope, “I Wish I Could Break Your Heart”

In imagining this video, Cassadee said she figured there would be a “big hanging heart that I’d be whacking at.” The director went one better, suspending Cassadee inside a steel heart. Hard to imagine Cassadee not being able to break any heart she wanted. The song is from the Season 3 winner’s excellent “Frame by Frame” album, released in October 2013.

3. Domo, “Domonation”

A catchy dance tune. A futuristic setting. Domo’s dance moves. Yep, works for me. Domo turned CeeLo Green’s chair and head back in Season 3 of The Voice. After watching her moves, you might not be surprised to find out she also performed with Rhythm City on “America’s Best Dance Crew” back in 2009. The song is from a new album by the same name.

2. Anthony Evans, “I Found You”

And I just found this wonderful song with a great message while searching for Voice music released in 2014. Anthony was a member of Team Christina back in Season 2 and delivers a fantastic and powerful vocal on this song from his Christian album “Real Life, Real Worship,” released in March. You can check out another song from Anthony below.

1. Melanie Martinez, “Carousel”

A Top 6 finisher in Season 3, the gal with the two-toned hair was easily the Voice video champ in 2014. She attracted more than 12 million views with the video to the song “Dollhouse.” She’s at 3.5 million for this video, which I find even more intriguing. Both songs are from her “Dollhouse” EP released in May. You can check out the “Dollhouse” video below.

Now, the rest of The Voice videos I could track down from the past year. Like I said, let me know if I’ve missed any. Lyric videos don’t count.
