Who goes home tonight on American Idol? My prediction last night was Kristen O’Connor, and I still think she’s the contestant with the most to be nervous about tonight.
If the strategy was to use the new season of American Idol to generate excitement about the debut album from last year’s winner … well, it didn’t work. Candice Glover’s “Music Speaks” landed at number 14 on the Billboard 200 when the album chart was released today.
The first round of the American Idol finals sorta mirrored last week’s semifinals. It started off a wee bit on the rough side. But there were enough solid performances to continue the hope that Season 13 will be a lot more entertaining than the oh-so-predictable Season 12.
It’s tough to imagine a more pressure-packed situation than the American Idol semifinalists faced last week. They didn’t know what order they would sing in. They didn’t even know if they’d be picked to sing.
We’re just hours away from the first American Idol finals show of the season. And that means it’s time to check where our Top 13 rank in terms of followings on Facebook and Twitter.
Apparently Monday’s performers on The Voice made a much bigger impression than those on Tuesday. As of 11:30 a.m., only one of the performance songs from Tuesday’s show had cracked the iTunes Top 200 singles chart.
We met eight of the Season 6 cast members last night on The Voice. And as much as I liked the performance from Dawn and Hawkes, I was a little surprised to see it outperform all the others on the iTunes chart.
The fans have voted … well, sort of. And the winner is: Dawn and Hawkes.
Three weeks of auditions, two weeks of Hollywood and a Rush Week bring us to this. Yep, it’s time for the American Idol finals to start. Which also means it’s time to rank some the Season 13 Idol cast.
