David Cook, American Idol's Season 7 champ, released a new music video Friday.

David Cook has released an animated video for his latest single, “Red Turns Blue.”

The song was released in late June and represents the first new music from American Idol’s Season 7 champ since 2018.

It’s a song about his struggles with anxiety, and the title refers to the range of emotions anxiety brings on, from manic highs (reds) to lows (blues).

Artist Justin A. Nixon help create the video. In a press release, David said it was purposely left open-ended to represent “that constant battle between anxiety and myself.

“I have always wanted to try the animated route with a music video,” he added. “Some of my favorite videos have been animated. ‘Paranoid Android’ by Radiohead. ‘Hellbent’ by Kenna.

“A silver lining to being stuck at home right now is it opened up the opportunity to have something animated for ‘Reds Turn Blue’.”

David’s also rescheduled his acoustic tour of Europe with Season 8 champ Kris Allen for the second time.

The first two sets of dates were wiped out by the pandemic. The shows are now set for March 2021.
