American Idol previously announced that it would celebrate its 20th season, in part, by inviting back past standouts as mentors.
That will begin in Hollywood Week. This week, seven former Idol stars announced they’ll be featured in the pre-taped Hollywood Week episodes.
Those kick off Monday at 8 p.m. with the Genre Challenge, in which Season 20 contestants are divided into groups by genre, then perform with hopes of advancing to the Hollywood Duet round.
Season 19 winner Chayce Beckham will return to share his wisdom on how to navigate Idol with all the contestants.
The other mentors will work with specific genre groups, including …
* David Cook, Season 7 champ, with the rock artists;
* Haley Reinhart, Season 10 Top 3, with the soul artists;
* Jordin Sparks, Season 6 champ, with the pop artists;
* Lauren Alaina, Season 10 runner-up, with the country artists;
* Lee DeWyze, Season 9 champ, with the indie/folk artists;
* Ruben Studdard, Season 2 champ, with the R&B artists.
Before Hollywood Week begins, Idol will air one final audition episode Sunday after the Oscars.
