Fans are still waiting for American Idol to announce who will be judging alongside Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie next year.

But the search for the next American Idol is already under way.

In fact, tomorrow (Wednesday, July 31) marks the start of a month and a half of state-by-state virtual auditions.

Anyone interested in trying out for Season 23 is being encouraged to sign up for one of those virtual auditions via Idol’s social media.

The state-by-state audtions kick off Aug. 12 with singers from Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi.

Those continue through Sept. 9 for singers in Maryland, Delaware, Massachusetts, Ohio, Rhode Island, Vermont and Washington, D.C.

Can’t make it on your designated day?

No problem. There are catch-all days at the end of the state-by-state process.

Singers auditioning for Season 23 must have been born between June 2, 1995 and February 15, 2010.

They can’t be a candidate for political office, can’t have a family member who works for Idol and can’t have won a past season.
