Torion from The Voice Season 26

Torion is among the artists who auditioned for Season 26 of The Voice.

Season 26 kicked off Monday, Sept. 23, with the coaching quartet of Gwen Stefani, Reba McEntire, Michael Buble and Snoop Dogg.

Here’s more about Torion.

* He’s Torion Sellers, a 26-year-old singer, rapper and dancer from Georgia who’s been recording music since he was in his mid-teens.

* According to an online bio, he began singing, acting and dancing lessons around age 9, won some talent shows in the Atlanta area and caught the attention of executives with the Young Money record label.

* They signed Torion when he was just 14, making him the youngest artist on the label. But when a promised album didn’t materialize, he sued to get out of his contract.

* He then signed with Sony and released his most popular singles to date — “Twerk Don’t Hurt,” featuring Ca$h Out in 2014 and “Fan Girl” the following year. Both have more than 250,000 streams on Spotify.

* Then he landed a role in the 2016 movie “Barbershop — The Next Cut,” starring Ice Cube and Nicki Minaj. He plays the role of Anthony, a young man in Chicago — “that one kid with his head on straight,” Torion says in an interview about the film. Called working with the “beautiful” Nicki Minaj “awesome” if a bit “nerve-wracking.” He called working with Ice Cube inspiring because of his accomplishments in music and acting.

* In 2022, Torion posted to Instagram about the disappointments and setbacks he’s experienced navigating the entertainment industry. “These past few years have been tough I ain’t gon lie,” he writes in part. “Being in the industry and on this journey comes with a lot of upset and disappointment.”

* Torion’s most recent release appears to be a 2020 EP called “Thankful” that includes five songs. “Y’all don’t know how bad I wanna drop new music,” he writes on Instagram on Sept. 21. “This is the most inspired I’ve been in a minute. Learning from the legends on @nbcthevoice has been life changing.”

* Since he announced his Voice audition, Torion has posted a video in which he shows off his dance moves, at age 14, for Lil Wayne. Though he left his label, Torion writes: “Lil Wayne has been a huge part of my journey and helped shape me into the artist I am today. Forever grateful for the opportunities and wisdom.”

* Of his Voice appearance, Torion writes: “Ready to challenge myself alongside some of the dopest voices in the world and show y’all what I’m made of. This journey is about stepping out of my comfort zone, pushing boundaries, and giving it everything I’ve got.”
