Pat Johnson is among the artists who auditioned for the new season of American Idol.

Idol officially returns to ABC on Sunday, March 9 with Carrie Underwood joining Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan at the judges’ table.

Here’s more about Pat:

* He’s lead singer with Floracene, a New Jersey-Philly based alt rock band.

* Floracene has released a good deal of music since 2019, including eight singles and a 2022 EP called “Shot in the Dark.”

* One of those singles, 2019’s Rollercoaster, has more than 1.2 million streams on Spotify alone.

* The five-member band released its latest single, “Magic,” last summer, calling it “probably collectively our favorite song.” You can check out the music video below.

* And Pat’s Idol audition apparently won’t affect Floracene moving forward. In late January, the band announced on social media that they’ve “got a fresh batch of tunes coming your way.”

* Pat and Floracene guitarist Tom Tarcelli were previously in another alt rock band together called Native Riff. You can still check out Native Riff’s music on Bandcamp.
