Tonight, American Idol unveils a new phase of Hollywood Week, head to head performances.

The implication is that one artist will advance and the other won’t. Though looking at the pairings, I’m certainly hoping that’s not how this will work.

For instance, Drew Ryan will perform a duet with Thunderstorm Artis. Both belong in the Top 24.

And Filo will duet with Kolbi Jordan. I can’t imagine Idol would use a format that would automatically eliminate one of its platinum ticket recipients.

You can check out most of the pairings for tonight’s show below.

I write most, because the Idol judges said there were still 42 singers in the audience after the round two eliminations.

I’m not sure if that included the four singers already placed in the Top 24 — Canaan James Hill, Gabby Samone, Mattie Pruitt and Zaylie Windsor.

Even if it does, there are only 34 names listed below. So some pairings are missing.

Also, Idol made it seem like there are just a handful of eliminations at the end of Sunday’s show.

Yet photos released after the show indicate at least 16 singers were cut, most of whom I’d never seen on the show.

Anyway, here are most of tonight’s pairings.

Oh, and I’d add Victor Solomon and Slater Nalley to my short list of contestants who have already proven they belong in the Top 24.
