Kayleigh Clark of The Voice Season 28

Kayleigh Clark of The Voice Season 28

Her audition: Kayleigh Clark, 20, of Sumrall, Mississippi performed “Stay” by Sugarland. Kayleigh’s strong opening earned a quick chair turn from Snoop Dogg. As Kayleigh continued a heartfelt delivery, every other coach turned as well. Reba called her audition wonderful. Snoop dared her to be different and pick him as a coach. Niall said Kayleigh’s unique vocals gave him goosebumps and he could tell she’s also a songwriter from her delivery. Kayleigh joined Team Niall in a bit of a shocker.

Here’s more about Kayleigh:

* She’s a Nashville-based country singer with music already out. And she arrives at The Voice with singing show experience.

* Kayleigh. from Somrall, Mississippi, was 17 when she auditioned for Season 21 of American Idol, which aired in the spring of 2023. She sang Garth Brooks’ “The Dance” and Hillsong Worship’s “I Surrender” during her audition.

* Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan praised her potential. Katie Perry urged her to sing loud enough to be heard over the 250,000 chickens in one of the barns on her farm back home. “I’m going to Hollywood,” proclaimed Kayleigh. “But I guess I’m going to sing for some chickens first.” Yep, she’s got personality to go with her talent.

* Unfortunately, she also got COVID during Hollywood Week and had to perform virtually from her hotel room. Still, she made it to the Top 55 before being eliminated.

* As for the released music, Kayleigh recently dropped her first two originals, a song called “Discounted” in late August and a song called “Growin’ Up” in mid September.

* The former is about pursing big dreams from a small town and continuing to do so in spite of the doubters. “People are gonna run their mouths. You just let them. Let it be fuel for your fire,” Kayleigh says in a social media post about the song.

* “Growin’ Up” is a song Kayleigh wrote about her father’s addiction to drugs and alcohol and its impact on his family. Kayleigh writes that her father has now been sober for three years.

* “My hope for this song is not only to help family members of anyone struggling with addiction, but also for the ones who are actively in addiction to see what this terrible disease can do to their loved ones. If you or anyone you know is struggling with addiction, PLEASE reach out for help.”

* Kayleigh grew up in a musical family and has been performing since she was a young girl. She also did some modeling, including at Fashion Week in New York when she was just 13.

* In her web bio, Kayleigh says her goal is to create a sound that blends her “country roots with soulful authenticity.”
