Mor Ilderton of American Idol Season 24

Idol returned to ABC on Monday, Jan. 26, with the judging trio of Luke Bryan, Carrie Underwood and Lionel Richie. Audition episodes will continue to air on Mondays through most of February.

Here’s more about Mor.

* Mor is a folk singer-songwriter from Hurricane, W.Va., with lots of already released music under the artist name mor.

* He also has singing show experience, having auditioned for Season 26 of The Voice in the fall of 2024 at age 20.

* Mor turned three chairs in the blind audition, was stolen by Gwen Stefani in the battle round, but left the show prior to the knockouts.

* Gwen said Mor “had to go home.” Mor never addressed his departure from the show, but was promoting a new single at the time.

* That song was called “Stranger” and has more than 340,000 streams on Spotify. A pre-Voice Christian single called “Welcome Sign” has more than 430,000 streams on the same site.

* Mor has since followed up with four singles in 2025. One of his latest is a song called “Strong” about “never getting to know my mom.” Check out a snippet of the song below.

* On Instagram, Mor adds: “All my songs mean a lot to me but this one is extra special and I hope it helps you guys heal in ways like it’s helped me!”

* During his Voice bio segment, Mor said his mom died when he was 2 and he was taken in by his grandmother, then an aunt and uncle once he turned 18.

* More new music may be coming. Mor teased a possible album in a Dec. 3 Facebook post and writes “can’t wait to share what we’ve been working on” in a Dec. 12 post.

* In a YouTube video, Mor says he grew up around music. Around his freshman or sophomore year of high school, “one day, I just picked (a guitar) up, looked up a YouTube video and I started trying to learn it. I’ve never looked back from there.” Still, he said his Voice audition marked his first performance in front of a live audience.
