Matthew Holiday of American Idol Season 24
Idol kicked off its new season this week on ABC with the judging trio of Luke Bryan, Carrie Underwood and Lionel Richie. The second audition episode airs Monday night.
Here’s more about Michael:
* He’s a very personable 20-year-old singer-songwriter.
* And while he doesn’t appear to have released music, his Instagram is filled with originals.
* He’s also developed an impressive pre-Idol following on TikTok, with more than 32,000 followers and 2.6 million likes.
* At least two of his videos there have gone viral, including an impromptu karaoke version of Frank Sinatra’s “I Did It My Way.”
* The other is a clip in which Matthews plays both piano and harmonica as he performs Billy Joel’s “Piano Man.” Quite impressively.
* Those two song choices might explain one of Matt’s newer originals “Wrong Generation,” aptly named because he says he “constantly feels like I was born in the wrong generation.”
* His ability to perform such classics also explains why he’s a such a hit when singing at a retirement home, something he’s apparently done quite often.
* Another of his originals is called “Scared Stubborn Kid” or “SS Kid.” He explains it as “a song about believing God gave you a dream, but still being terrified you’re wrong. Due to some slow results I guess.” Check it out below.
