Tate Emmons of American Idol Season 24

Tate Emmons is among the artists who auditioned for Season 24 of American Idol.

Idol returns to ABC on Monday, Jan. 26 with the judging trio of Luke Bryan, Carrie Underwood and Lionel Richie.

Here’s more about Tate:

* He’s a very young southern gospel artist from Lake, Mississippi, who nevertheless already has music out.

* Tate says he’s been singing almost his entire life in church and began taking his music on the road at the tender age of 12.

* He released a debut album called “Means Something to Me” in January 2024 and had a hand in writing six of the 10 songs on the project.

* The southern gospel group Southbound is featured on one of the album’s songs (“Jesus Loves You”) and Tate has also shared the stage with former Voice champ Todd Tilghman.

* He’s since released a Christmas album and three more singles, including “Mississippi Sunday” and “I am Saved” in 2025.

* The latter stemmed from a greeting Tate began using when anyone asked him, “How are you?” Tate’s response: “Well, I am saved and forgiven; I can’t ask for anything more.”

* “I realized that statement carried so much truth and hope — it felt like something people needed to hear. Then it hit me, ‘This could be a song,’” Tate says in a press release about the single. He wound up writing it with Matthew Browder.

* Tate’s web bio says his music was embraced by listeners from the very beginning. He posted his first cover — “Chainbreaker” — to social media in 2020 and it received more than 1 million views.

* Tate hails from a musical family, according to an online bio, and also plays guitar and saxophone.
