More bad news for The Voice and its Battle of Champions.
The show’s ratings dipped again Monday night, falling to a 0.19 rating among 18 to 49 year olds and a total estimated audience of 2.81 million.
That’s down from a 0.2 rating and a total audience of 2.93 million the week prior. But that drop only tells half of the story.
Last year, the first knockout round episode drew an estimated audience of 4.57 million. That means the show has lost 36 percent of its audience in one year’s time.
Monday will be a critical night for the show. It’s tinkered with the notion of an all-star season. And Monday’s show will feature an All-Star Showdown with six past standouts returning to The Voice.
It there’s an appetite for an all-star season of The Voice, it should be reflected in an upswing in viewership Monday night.
Over at American Idol, producers are more likely to be smiling. The show won Monday night for the second straight week. And its ratings and audience nudges up for a second straight week.
Idol drew a 4.2 rating for Monday’s Songs of Faith episode, up from 4.1 the week before. The show’s total audience just to 4.86 million, up slightly from 4.79 the week before.
Last year, Idol’s Songs of Faith night aired on a Sunday with an estimated audience of 4.49 million.

“Six past standouts”? Do they mean winners? What advice would they give? None of them have any lasting success after the show. Could one of them be Alisan Porter, who was a ringer with decades in the entertainment industry?
The whole concept reeks of the producers and the coaches being self-congratulating. They haven’t earned that.
