The good news for The Voice is that its ratings surged slightly this week as Season 29 came to a close.

The bad news is that The Battle of Champions was still a ratings disaster, one during which The Voice was thumped in the ratings by American Idol on a weekly basis and lost a huge chunk of its audience.

Little wonder. Consider Season 29 features no live shows for the first time in Voice history, no fan voting for the first time in Voice history and the fewest performances from contestants who made the finale in the show’s history.

That’s a lot of history being made in all the wrong ways. And here’ another piece.

Two years ago, the finale for Season 25 drew an audience of 6.11 million viewers.

Tuesday night, 3.57 million tuned in when The Voice crowned its most recent champ. On a night when The Voice wasn’t going head to head with American Idol.

That means the show’s audience dropped 42 percent in the span of two years.

If you’re looking for a more positive spin, The Voice drew a rating of 0.25 among 18 and 49 year-olds on both Monday (the semifinals) and Tuesday (the finals). That’s up from 0.18 the prior week.

And on Tuesday, The Voice audience swelled to 3.57 million, up nearly a million from Monday’s show. But NBC’s 0.25 rating was still only the third highest among the four major networks.

The Voice will try again in the fall. The show has announced there will be a Season 30 and Adam Levine will be one of the coaches.

The format has not been announced. If it’s the same format as Season 29, IT WILL NOT BE WORTH WATCHING.

Comparatively speaking, things are humming along at American Idol.

The show won Monday night again, with a rating of 0.45, up from 0.42 the week prior.

And the show’s total estimated audience clicked in at 5.08 million, up about 5 percent from the week prior.

Nobody cares anymore involved with “The Voice” Not the coaches, not that host, not the producers, not NBC. It’s all about money. In the beginning, “The Voice” was supposed to compete with “Idol” No sob stories, no misleading edits, equal airtime for contestants, no stacked semifinal groups, no judges bantering, a fair voting system. What a blown opportunity. No singer has become successful after “The Voice” Morgan Wallen distanced himself from the show. In one interview, he stated he wanted to sing country, they made him sing pop. Viewers are beginning to wisen up that “The Voice “ is about entertainment, not a singing competition. Meanwhile, one blogger still takes the show seriously. He gives grades (never below a B). His followers post comments.Keep up telling the truth about “The Voice” Mark.
