Idols on the Music Chart, Kelly Clarkson

Kelly’s ‘Stronger’ lands at number 2 on Billboard

Billboard posted its music charts for this week, and a familiar face is near the top.

Kelly Clarkson’s fifth album, “Stronger,” debuted at number two on the Billboard 200; Coldplay’s new album, “Mylo Xyloto, took the top spot.

That means all five of Kelly’s albums have debuted in the top three on the Billboard 200.  That’s includes “All I Ever Wanted” and “Thankful” at number one, “My December” at number two and “Breakaway” at number three.

Ironic that the most successful debuted the lowest, right?

“Stronger’s” release also provided a boost for the album’s lead single, “Mr. Know It All,” which leaped from number 19 to number 10 on the Hot 100.

It’s also in the top 10 on the adult pop chart (at number 5) and among hot digital downloads (at number 9) and appears on at least three other charts.

In other major chart news this week:

*  Season 10 Idol winner Scotty McCreery got bumped from atop the country album chart by Toby Keith’s “Chaney’s Tavern” album.  Scotty’s now in the number two spot after holding the top spot two straight weeks.  Lauren Alaina’s “Wildflower” drops to number six on the country chart, down from three.

* On the Billboard 200, Scotty’s “Clear As Day” album dropped from number three to number seven.   Lauren’s “Wildflower” is now number 24, down from number 10.

I thought it was funny too that her huge hit album debuted the lowest at #3 as well. I guess you never know how an album is going to do. I hope her new one takes off. It sure is awesome!!! Congrats and continued success to Ms. Kelly Clarkson. Best voice in music today.
