Chase Likens, Season 11

Meet American Idol contestant Chase Likens

Chase Likens said the first song he ever performed was an Elvis Presley song in a kindergarten talent show.

After the Idol Season 11 auditions last year, Chase was asked why he was unique.

And the conversation turned back to Elvis, but in a totally different way.

If you heard his voice on the radio, then saw him, you wouldn’t put the two together,  says the lad from Point Pleasant, W.Va., who was 20 when he auditioned in Pittsburgh last summer.

“I would describe my look versus my sound as an Elvis look to a Rascal Flatts type voice,” he told Idol during his golden ticket interview.

You guessed it.  Chase is a country singer.

And he made it to Hollywood for the second straight year, blaming his ouster last year during group performance week on a poor song selection.

The guy who sings country music chose to perform Bruno Mars’  “Just the Way You Are.”

Chase is a 2009 graduate of Point Pleasant High School and a member of the Class of 2013 at Marshall University, according to his Facebook page.

Being a country singer, it’s not surprising that Chase’s favorite past Idols are Carrie Underwood and Scotty McCreery.

Obviously, he’s trying to follow in their footsteps.

“I have the stage presence.  I have a different tone quality.  I just have something different in country music that I think country music is needing,” he says, when asked why he could become the next Idol.

I couldn’t find any video of Chase performing — I had the same problem last year — but below is an interview he did following his elimination last year.

If anyone knows where to find videos of Chase singing, please pass the word along.

I think Chase Likens is much better than Philip Philips, (tho I have nothing agaist Philip) He is defintely better than some who are left..more stage presence..good voice. The sad thing is the age group that does the most voting.
