So, we have a first-album flop from Kris Allen.
So, we have a first album from Adam Lambert overshadowed by on-stage antics at the American Music Awards.
Next up: Allison Iraheta, the gal I still say belonged alongside Adam in this year’s Idol finals.
Unfortunately, no one is streaming a full version of Allison’s debut album, “Just Like You,” which hits stores Tuesday.
But MySpace Music is offering the next best thing. It’s streaming every other song on the album here.
That means you can hear the single, “Friday I’ll Be Over You,” the title track and five other tunes.
Do yourself a favor and check out “Scars.” It’s a great vocal, and the best ballad you’re going to hear on any of the new albums from the season eight Idols.
And, if you haven’t seen the video for the single yet, you can check it out on Allison’s Web site.
It’s clearly aimed at a younger audience, but it’s fun. Allison gets to sit on a sofa shaped like a giant pair of red lips in one scene; in another, she dances around in a black tutu with purple tights. I can only imagine what Simon would have said if she showed up on stage in that outfit.
Allison is scheduled for at least two major TV appearances this week. She’s supposed to perform on ABC’s Good Morning America Tuesday; then she’s scheduled to be on Ellen (WHP, Channel 21, 4 p.m.) on Thursday.
If the Associated Press covers Tuesday’s performance, I’ll post photos as soon as it’s over. And I’ll have a review of Allison’s CD in next Sunday’s CD Spotlight.
Meanwhile, Access Hollywood is reporting first-week sales of Kris Allen’s album at 80,000 copies. As I noted Thursday, his debut at 11 on the Billboard 200 is the lowest ever by an Idol winner. The site is predicting a much better opening-week for Adam’s “For Your Entertainment.”
