Could Jessica Sanchez win American Idol in a landslide?
Social media following suggests it could happen.
Among the remaining three Idol contestants, Jessica is far and away the leader in terms of Facebook and Twitter followers.
Check out the numbers, as of 1:30 p.m. Tuesday:
Jessica Sanchez: 196,495 likes
Phillip Phillips: 168,40
Joshua Ledet: 53,415
Jessica Sanchez: 324,140
Phillip Phillips: 279,975
Joshua Ledet: 98,352
That’s quite a turn-around from when the Season 11 finals began.
Back then, Phillip had twice as many Twitter followers as Jessica (38,000 to 17,000) and nearly a 25 percent edge in Facebook likes (15,500 to 11,500).
Now Jessica has a 16 percent edge over Phillip in both departments. And more than a 3-to-1 edge over Joshua on both forms of social media.
What does all this mean?
Little perhaps.
When the finals began, two of the most popular Idol contestants in terms of Facebook likes and Twitter followers were Heejun Han and Colton Dixon.
And look what happened to them.
