Idols on the Music Chart

Carrie Underwood moving up the country chart … again

Watch out above on Billboard’s country singles chart.

Carrie Underwood’s “Blown Away” is gaining momentum, threatening to add to her already gaudy record of success on that chart.

How gaudy?

Of Carrie’s last 14 singles, 11 have reached number one. The only three that didn’t — “Don’t Forget About Me” (her second off her debut album), “I Told You So” and “Mama’s Song” — peaked at number two.

This week, “Blown Away” moves up from 16 to 12 on the country singles chart, making it one of the week’s biggest gainers. “Over” by Voice judge Blake Shelton currently tops of the chart.

Of course, if she’s going to reach number one with “Blown Away,” Carrie might want to hurry.

Taylor Swift’s “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” is number 19, has topped Billboard’s download chart for two straight weeks and will have the support of Taylor’s new album come early October.

Other chart highlights:

* Chalk up another strong download week for Phillip Phillips‘ “Home.” Billboard reports that the song sold 109,000 downloads last week, good enough for number eight on the chart.

* Adam Lambert’s “Never Close Your Eyes” had been making great headway on the dance/club play chart, climbing all the way to number six a week ago. Now it’s in reverse, dropping all the way to 15 on this week’s chart.

* Kelly Clarkson’s “Dark Side” has lost momentum, well short of the success “Stronger” (the single) achieved. In fact, “Dark Side” slid to number 50 on the Hot 100 this week; “Stronger” is still number 47.

* “Sparkle” remains the top-seller on the soundtrack chart. Best known for including Whitney Houston’s last recordings, the album showcases Season 6 Idol winner Jordin Sparks.
