Carrie Underwood will step into the NFL spotlight Sunday night right along with Tony Romo and Eli Manning.
Carrie will be singing the song leading into NBC’s “Sunday Night Football,” taking over for Faith Hill, who performed the chore for the last five years.
And we should expect a different sounding version of “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night,” Carrie told The Associated Press earlier this week.
“We definitely wanted to go in and make sure we switched gears a little bit and made it sound more like me,” she said. “And changed up the look and the feel just so it wasn’t, you know, the same song with a different blondie up there singing it.”
Not that folks are likely to mistake Carrie for just any ol’ blondie.
After all, she sang the anthem to kick off Super Bowl XLIV, grew up a huge fan of the Dallas Cowboys and even has a little bit of quarterbacking experience, as she explained in this interview at nfl.com.
“This definitely ranks high on the scale of awesome things that I’ve been able to be a part of,” Carrie says in that interview.
For the record, Carrie’s picking a Packers vs. Broncos Super Bowl at the end of the 2013 season.
