That was certainly the case with Danny Gokey’s “Hope in Front of Me.”

Released way back in February, the song is just now threatening to reach the top of the Billboard Christian singles chart.

This week the song moves up from number seven to number four on the Billboard Christian singles chart.

It’s now number two on the Christian airplay chart, behind only “We Believe” by the Newsboys.

And it’s number eight on the Christian digital chart, up one spot from a week ago.

The jump has been fueled by the release of Danny’s first Christian album, also called “Hope in Front of Me,” which debuted at number one on Billboard’s genre chart in late June, the week after it was released.

The album is now sitting at number 25 on the Christian albums chart. Danny, of course, finished third back on Season 8 of Idol.

Also enjoying success on the Christian charts is Colton Dixon, the seventh-place finisher from Idol Season 11.

Colton’s “More of You” moved up five spots to number 13 on the Christian singles chart this week.

That’s especially welcome news because second albums have proven such tricky business for Idol contestants over the years.

The lead single should provide some momentum when Colton’s second post-Idol album, “Anchor,” lands on Aug. 19. Pre-orders are under way now.
