Two American Idol winners are releasing new albums Tuesday.
But you don’t have to wait until tomorrow to listen to the full albums.
Caleb Johnson’s “Testify” is streaming on Amazon.com here.
And Kris Allen is treating us to a listen to his new album by posting audio videos for each song on his YouTube channel.
This marks the third post-Idol album from Kris. I haven’t had a chance to listen to the full album, but the lead single — “Prove it to You” — is a treat to the ears.
Speaking of which, please don’t discount Caleb’s album because of that lame single he released at the end of his Idol run. Or because the album comes less than three months after he snagged the Season 13 crown.
His album is impressive given the short turn-around. Caleb sounds great. And that lead single — “As Long as You Love Me” — might just be the weakest track on the entire album.
Highlights include the rockers “Sailing Away” and “Devil’s Daughter” and power ballads “Only One” and “Change.”
Now, the big question, of course, is how well the album will sell.
Season 12 winner Candice Glover landed at number 14 on the Billboard 200 when her album debuted earlier this year, but had the worst first-week sales ever for an Idol winner, with just 19,000 copies moved.
