Blake Shelton wound up being the only singing show star to walk away with a win at the CMA Awards Wednesday night.
The Voice coach captured honors as male vocalist of the year.
Carrie Underwood was nominated for female artist of the year, but that award went to Blake’s wife, Miranda Lambert.
And the Swon Brothers were nominated as duo of the year, but the award went to Florida Georgia Line (surprise, surprise).
Miranda Lambert wound up winning three honors, including album of the year (“Platinum”) and single of the year (“Automatic”).
And former Voice contestant Nicole Galyon can take more than a little satisfaction in that. She’s a co-writer on several of the best tracks on the album, including the title cut and “Automatic.”

Oh, and you might wonder what Jason Aldean is doing in such a gallery. Well, the blonde on his arm is none other than former Idol contestant and NBA cheerleader Brittany Kerr — you know, the gal he was caught smooching with in a L.A. bar in 2012 when he was still supposedly happily married.
