Is the fourth time the charm on American Idol?

Sarina-Joi Crowe, 19, of Columbia, Tenn., is about to find out.

Sarina-Joi made the Top 100 on American Idol back in Season 10. She was one of the last 50 girls standing in Season 12. She advanced past the Hollywood group round last year.

And she’s back, apparently stronger than ever after a rousing version of OneRepublic’s “When the Love Runs Out” at American Idol’s Season 14 auditions in Nashville.

After she left the room with her golden ticket, we heard Harry Connick Jr. say she sounds better than a year ago. “She’s so good,” Jennifer Lopez said in response.

Perhaps that’s because of all the performing she’s done.

On Facebook, Sarina-Joi writes about touring with Season 11 finalist DeAndre Brackensick; they were Hollywood group partners as The Minors back in Season 10.

She’s performed as a backup singer for Season 12 Idol champ Candice Glover at the BET Awards.

And in May of last year she released a pop single called “Hold On Me,” which you can check out below. At the time, she was planning on following up with a seven-track EP. Here’s betting Season 14 of Idol interrupted those plans.

Here’s what she said about “Hold On Me” in a 2014 interview: “It is kind of something different for me because I am used to acoustic performances and songs with me just writing and performing with my guitar. Just more indie type music. Basically, it is just a pop record about being with somebody and being in love with them and the feelings just taking over, like the first stages of dating somebody and feeling bliss.”

In her Facebook bio, Sarina-Joi tells us she got her start singing in the choir at church and “I believe that Broadway is in my genes whether I like it or not. I saw one movie/musical and I have not stopped singing them ever since.”

And it sounds as though she’ll be undeterred, regardless of what happens during Season 14 of Idol.

“I believe God has something planned for me, a purpose for doing what I’m doing and that it is going to happen regardless of what anyone else thinks. As long as I serve him and glorify him everything will work out fine,” she writes.

Here are some Sarina-Joi links, followed by a couple samples of her music.
