The song is one of two new tracks on her “Greatest HIts: Decade #1” album that was released in December.
It’s about a child listening to her parents argue and wishing the words were as harmless as toy guns.
Carrie told People she turned to P.R. Brown — director of her “Two Black Cadillacs” video — to come up with a storyline that wasn’t quite as heavy as the lyrics to the song.
So they came up with a scenario where the little girl is the hero, dreaming of reuniting her parents.
In casting the little girl, Carrie turned to Grace Rundhaug, who played one of the children in “Sound of Music Live” in which Carrie starred last winter.
Meanwhile, Carrie’s Greatest Hits is yielding another hit for the 31-year-old former American Idol.
Lead single “Something in the Water” hit number one on Billboard’s Hot County singles chart before dropping to number two last week. The song is sitting at number three on the Country Airplay chart, up one spot from a week before.
Oh, and the song also earned Carrie a nomination for best country solo performance at Sunday’s Grammy Awards.
The album is number three on the country chart and number 27 on the Billboard 200 after debuting at number one and number four, respectively.
