Paula Deanda has launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund the second album she never got to release as a teenager.
A contestant on Season 6 of The Voice, Paula appeared on her way to pop acclaim back in 2006 when she released her debut album after being signed by Clive Davis.
The album produced a pair of gold singles — “Walk Away” and “Doin’ Too Much. The former was a Top 20 hit on Billboard’s Hot 100.
But the lead single for a second album failed to chart in 2009, and that second album never materialized.
When Paula auditioned for The Voice at age 24, she said she was looking for a second chance at stardom. She landed a spot on Team Blake Shelton, but lost to vocal powerhouse Sisaundra Lewis in that year’s battle round.
Since then, she’s already released an impressive and cleverly titled dance EP called “The Voice and the Beats” with the Jump Smokers (you can guess who was the Voice).
If you missed that EP, make sure to check out the sassy “Arrivederci” and the catchy “Horns Blow” (listen here).
Now she’s hoping to help fund a new album through Kickstarter with a campaign designed to raise $3,000 by Feb. 25. With three weeks to go, she’s raised about a third of that amount.
“I already have enlisted some artists, producers, writers that I want to work with,” she says. “I want to restore that feeling of love, heartbreak, and happiness that my debut album so strongly displayed.”
