Dave Moisan captures 4th save of the battles on The Voice

0

Over the weekend, I posted a blog suggesting Team Alicia was the strongest on The Voice in Season 11.

Looks what’s happened since.

In the first two nights of battles, she’s sent three pairs into action. And not a single one of her original singers has gone home yet.

Jason Warrior and Lauren Diaz earned saves on Monday’s show and Dave Moisan kept the streak going during Tuesday’s episode.

Here’s the recap.

BEST OF THE NIGHT

Team Miley

The match: Sophia Urista (2) vs. Lane Mack (1)

The song: “Money” by Pink Floyd

The verdict: Blake said he’d give the win to Miley; Alicia said she thought Sophia deserved the victory. Miley awarded the win to Sophia, saying she’d like to continue to guide her on The Voice.

My take: Wow. First off, I’m loving some of Miley’s battle round song choices. And while I never thought of “Money” as an ideal battle round song, Lane and Sophia sure made it work. Sophia is a rocker in real life, so she was completely in her element. Between her performance and her unique vocals, I would have given her the win too. But, dang, seems to me like Lane merited a steal.

A WELL-DESERVED STEAL

Team Alicia

The match: Dave Moisan (4) vs. Michael Sanchez (1)

The song: “Valerie” by Amy Winehouse

The verdict: Adam and Blake were both incredibly impressed with Michael and said they thought he won the battle. Alicia, surprisingly, agreed, even though Michael turned just one chair in the blinds and Dave turned four. But with Dave’s range, he had nothing to worry about. Adam swooped in and stole him.

THE COACH GOT IT RIGHT

Team Blake

The match: Courtney Harrell (2) vs. Ethan Tucker (2)

The song: “Gravity” by John Mayer

The verdict: Miley thought Ethan had the edge. But Blake awarded the win to Courtney. Not surprised. Though Ethan displayed a wonderful smoky voice, Courtney scored all the “moments” during the course of that performance.

NOT AGAIN!

In a montaged battle — that means we got to see only a couple of seconds of it — Team Miley’s Josette Diaz and Charity Bowden sang “She’s Got You” by Patsy Cline. Miley declared Josette the winner; Charity was eliminated. That means Charity sang twice on The Voice and was montaged both times. Again, THAT SHOULD NEVER HAPPEN, VOICE PRODUCERS!!!!!!!

ALSO MONTAGED (aka cheated of airtime)

On Team Adam, Ponciano Seoane defeated Elia Esparza; they performed “Tenerife Sea” by Ed Sheeran.

On Team Miley, Maye Thomas defeated Khaliya Kimberlie; they performed “For What It’s Worth” by Stephen Stills.
