And behind the video for the song, which landed earlier this week.
“I hope after watching it you feel encouraged, beautiful, strong, and courageous,” she writes on Facebook. “Please know that you are unique and special just the way you are.
“Your flaws and insecurities do not define you. You can be whoever you want to be. Don’t let anyone else try to stop you.”
Lauren is now 21, but was just 15 when she landed on Season 10 of American Idol and wound up runner-up to Scotty McCreery.
She’s said before she took criticism from some viewers — especially about her weight at the time — to heart.
“I got caught up in what people had to say about me. And it ate me alive. And I had everything I ever wanted in the palm of my hand, but I was sad,” she says in a video about “Road Less Traveled.”
“I want to share this message because I don’t want other people to feel that way that I felt.”
Lauren wrote the song with Jesse Frasure and Meghan Trainor.
And it has turned out to be her biggest hit to date.
As of Thursday, it was sitting at number 20 on the Billboard country airplay chart and number 25 on the hot country song chart.
