This time, the song is “For What It’s Worth,” originally released by Buffalo Springfield in 1966.
On Facebook, Haley explains why she decided to include the song on her album, “What’s That Sound?”
“A good friend just reminded me that back in high school we had to write a paper on a certain decade and use one song to describe the time,” she writes. “Turns out I had long forgotten that I used, ‘For What It’s Worth’ as the defining track of the 60’s and encouraged my friend to do the same.
“No matter what age or what decade we’re in, people will always feel the significance of this song as it remains current and yet, completely timeless. There’s something happening here… an urgency that reminds us to keep our minds clear, resist, and continue to stand up for justice — together.”

Haley’s new album, her third since Idol, is available for pre-order on iTunes. It’s set for a Sept. 22 release.
On it, she covers 11 tunes from the 1960s throws in three originals that fit the theme. Her father plays guitar on the covers; her mother provides background vocals on many of the songs.
Haley has also announced a What’s That Sound tour that will begin Oct. 22 in Phoenix and run through mid-November.
It will include stops at the World Cafe Live in Philly on Nov. 10 and at Soundstage in Baltimore on Nov. 14. Meet and greet options are available for both of those shows. Check out Haley’s Facebook page for a complete list of tour dates.
Now, here are the promised videos.
