Michael Kight took a risk by singing Maroon 5’s “Sugar” during a blind audition in which he hoped to land a spot on Team Adam Levine.

It paid off. Twice.

First, the 25-year-old Nashville resident landed the spot on Team Adam that he wanted.

Second, his cover of “Sugar” wound up being the best performing song on iTunes from the final night of the blind auditions.

The song failed to register on the iTunes Top 200 singles chart. But as of noon eastern time — when voting typically ends following a Voice live show — it was number 56 on the difficult-to-scale pop singles chart.

How difficult? Seven of the 18 artists whose blind audition songs were classified as pop failed to crack the Top 200 in Season 13. Michael was one of only five to crack the Top 100 on that chart.

Team Adam teammate Gary Carpentier wasn’t far behind Michael. The last singer chosen for Season 13, Gary landed at number 60 on the pop chart with his version of “Home” by Michael Buble.

Here’s where all the songs from Tuesday’s show stood as of noon.

One other point of interest. During Monday’s show, country singer Natalie Stovall’s blind audition was montaged. Singers who are montaged seldom crack the iTunes singles chart.

Chalk Natalie up as an exception. While her song wasn’t on the Top 200 on the country chart yesterday at noon, it rebounded today, climbing all the way to number 144.
