Jacob Miller was eliminated during the final set of knockout matches to air on The Voice.

But the Portland-based artist, 29 when he auditioned, is forging ahead. In fact, he plans to release two singles before Season 18 of The Voice ends and follow up with an album later this year.

On The Voice, Jacob turned three chairs with his blind audition performance of “The Times They Are a Changin’” by Bob Dylan.

He then won a battle round match with Kevin Farris that was montaged, setting the stage for his Team Nick knockout round match with Allegra Miles.

Both singers received praise, but Nick opted to advance Allegra to the voting shows.

Here’s what Jacob told Voice Views about his time on the show and the new music he’s planning.

Voice Views: What do you consider your biggest takeaway / lesson learned from The Voice experience?

Jacob: My greatest takeaway has been making a handful of close friendships during my time on the show. Working with James Taylor and Nick was also enjoyable. I imagined this side of the entertainment industry to be cold or soulless, but was surprised at how kind and genuine everyone was throughout.

Voice Views: What are your post-Voice plans musically? Where are you hoping this opportunity leads?

Jacob: I plan to continue writing and exploring music professionally. The exposure from The Voice has brought quite a few new fans to my music, and I’d like to continue to grow that fan base and share my art with them. Creating a sense of community is important to me. Aside from that, collaborating with other artists and exploring new instruments will occupy a lot of my time.

Voice Views: Do you have plans to release new music? If so, what can you tell us about that?

Jacob: I’ll be releasing two new singles on Friday, May 15th. The songs are about quarantine/isolation due to the Coronavirus we’ve all been subject to. The pandemic has affected everyone, including us in the entertainment industry so I wanted to utilize this time at home to write and record. I’ve collaborated with several PNW musicians on the project, with each of us working over the internet.

The songs, “Get Your Love” and “Dancing Shadows,” will be available for streaming and download as free/pay-what-you-want, with half the proceeds going towards Musicares Relief Fund.

Aside from that project, my sophomore album will come out fall/winter 2020, which will feature some incredible artists and arrangements from Grammy-award winning composers and engineers. I’m looking forward to sharing all of this music with fans, as well as a slew of videos and other content as the year continues.

Voice Views: Is there anything else you’d like to add about The Voice experience?

Jacob: Being on The Voice was a very unexpected opportunity that seems to keep happening at me – but I’m very happy that I did it. The people, experience and aftermath of my involvement have been very positive.
