Season 13

A look back at Jena Irene’s Idol performances

0

Let’s just say it took a while for Jena Irene Asciutto to make an impression during Season 13 of American Idol.

Through the semifinals, judges and mentor Randy Jackson were still mispronouncing her first name (it’s Gina, not Jenna).

She needed some time to win over viewers, too.

When voters failed to put her into the finals, she needed a judges’ wild card pick to advance to the Top 13. Then she landed in the bottom three on Top 12 week.

But she survived and hasn’t been back to the stools of danger since.

And Tuesday night (note the schedule change), she’ll take on Caleb Johnson for the Season 13 title.

The 17-year-old from Farmington Hills, Mich., honed her skills playing in a band called Infinity Hour back home. In fact, she was in a band from age 12 to 16, so performing is nothing new for the teen.

Below, you can check out Jena’s Idol performances. Beside each one, I’ve noted the Idol Chatter grade for that performance.

Check back Tuesday. I’ll be live blogging during the performance finale and grading each song as it’s performed.
