It took two songs for John Foster to convince Luke Bryan he deserved a golden ticket to Hollywood.

After delivering some cajun food to the judges as a sign of Louisiana hospitality, John performed the rollicking “Don’t Rock the Jukebox” at his American Idol audition.

It was a fun performance, but Carrie wanted more. So John launched into Conway Twitty’s “Goodbye Time.”

Luke joined in from time to time, turning the performance into a duet.

He voted “yes” on sending John to Hollywood, saying the second song changed his mind.

Still, he added, “I don’t know if it’s vocally there to make it through many, many rounds of American, but you’ve got a lot of great tools.”

Now those tools have taken John all the way to the Idol finale. Here’s a look back at his American Idol performances. Song titles are followed by YouTube views as of midnight Saturday and Idol Chatter’s grade for each performance.
