Fans of The Voice just might spot a York County singer if they tune in for Season 7.

Contestants on the show are prohibited from talking to the media about their participation until after their audition airs.

But they are allowed to promote their audition on their Facebook pages.

And twice this week, DaNica Shirey has made references to trying out for the show on hers.

She posted a photo of Blake Shelton with this message: “Please watch the premiere on Monday to see how I did :)) I’m so excited!”

And when she later posted a promo video from the show, a friend asked if she would be on The Voice.

DaNica’s response: “I auditioned Elizabeth :)) so watch out for me to see how I did!! Whoooo lol.”

The York Dispatch interviewed DaNica back in 2008, when she was 19 and just coming off a victory in another singing competition, an online contest called “Total Pop Star.”

She traveled to California for the finals and beat out five other singers while performing in front of celebrity judges Joey Lawrence, Deborah Gibson and Andrew Van Slee.

The Red Lion Area Senior High School grad submitted a wide range of videos for the competition, covering hits by Carrie Underwood, the Pussycat Dolls, Taylor Dayne and even tossing in a couple of originals. Those videos aren’t available anymore.

But you can check out several videos of her singing on a StarNow page, where she lists her genre as pop / rock. Particularly impressive are covers of “I Have Nothing” and snippets of a pair of Katy Perry hits, “I Kissed a Girl” and “Hot N Cold.”

During that 2008 interview, DaNica also mentioned performances at the Strand-Capital Performing Arts Center and The Apollo in Harlem, N.Y.

And, at one point, she performed with the David Foster & Friends International Tour at Madison Square Garden.

Keep checking back for coverage of Season 7 of The Voice.

The fun starts Monday night when the first audition episode airs at 8 p.m. on NBC. I’ll be live blogging throughout.
