Megan Joy and Quinn Allman make up VadaWave.

You might say Megan Joy has a couple of big dates to look forward to over the next week.

She and husband Quinn Allman will release their first EP as VadaWave on Friday.

And the couple are expecting their first child, due Sunday.

How’s that for timing?

The couple met to write songs together back in 2010 when Megan was working on her solo career. She’s released two albums since finishing ninth on Season 8 of American Idol.

Quinn was lead guitarist for The Used at the time and told BreakingAndEntering.net that it was a case of love at first sight.

They wound up marrying in May 2011 and, naturally, the couple began sharing music. And, eventually, VadaWave came about.

The EP due out Friday — “Out of Body” — is a six-track debut. Two songs — the title track and “Escape” — have already been released, as well as accompanying music videos.

“Escape” is about the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and its former president Warren Jeffs, who is now in prison after being convicted of child sexual assault. Jeffs’ headquarters were in Utah, near where Megan and Quinn live.

The song has a definite rock edge. In fact, the EP is far less pop-ish than Megan’s previous post Idol releases.

“After American Idol, everyone wanted me to be on the radio. The songs I was writing had to be a pop single hit, so I learned how to write songs like that,” she told New Noise Magazine. “But with Quinn, I’m so free that I just let it (the music) be whatever it is.”

You can listen to the entire EP now on Soundcloud. And if you’d like the EP on vinyl, it’s available from the VadaWave website.

Quinn told Breaking and Entering this is just the beginning for VadaWave. A full-length album will likely follow as well as tour dates next spring and summer.

In addition to the website, you can follow VadaWave through their Facebook page. On Twitter, they’re simply @VadaWave.
