American Idol will split up its Top 24 for two nights of performances Sunday and Monday.

Jimmie Allen will mentor the contestants performing on Sunday; Bebe Rexha will mentor those singing Monday night.

With the help of fan voting, that Top 24 will be whittled to a Top 20 for the following week.

That means only four singers will be eliminated this week; possibly only three if platinum ticket holder Kenedi Anderson truly left the show.

Idol hasn’t announced how voting will work, but I’ll be shocked if the judges don’t keep their hands in the mix one way or another, possibly through wild card picks.

That’s especially true since Season 20’s female talent pool seems much deeper than its male contestants.

Here’s how the two nights will break down.

Sunday (Jimmie Allen mentors)

Dan Marshall
Danielle Finn
Elli Rowe
Emyrson Flora
HunterGirl
Jacob Moran
Jay Copeland
Mike Parker
Nicolina Bozzo
Sage
Scarlet Ayliz
Tristen Gressett

Analysis: Platinum ticket recipients HunterGirl and Jay Copeland will advance. Tristen Gressett and Nicolina should have no trouble doing the same. Mike Parker has sounded great whenever he’s been showcased. I’ll be pulling for Scarlet Ayliz because of the pop flair she’ll bring to the Idol stage.

Monday (Bebe Rexha mentors)

Allegra Miles
Ava Maybee
Cadence Baker
Cameron Whitcomb
Christian Guardino
Fritz Hager
Katyrah Love
Kenedi Anderson
Lady K.
Leah Marlene
Noah Thompson
Sir Blayke

Analysis: If she’s still part of the show, Kenedi will advance. Leah Marlene, Katyrah Love and Allegra Miles should do the same, though the latter doesn’t appear to be a show favorite. Idol is very high on Christian Guardino. As for mentors, I wish Idol would have stuck to their theme for Season 20 and turned to an alumni rather than Bebe Rexha.

The fun starts at 8 p.m. Each night. I’ll be live blogging, with song by song grades.
