David Archuleta has released the lead single from his upcoming Christmas album and it’s accompanying music video.
The fun video features David singing “Christmas Every Day” while a joyous group of six dance and arrange holiday decorations in the background.
And fun is just what David was looking for, based on what he told Entertainment Tonight, which premiered the video Monday.
“I wanted to have fun with this video and make people have even a bit of a laugh,” David told he site.
“I thought, ‘Why not try and make it like a holiday commercial?’ So we went for that. Decorations, dancing, and even Santa Claus. I hope it will leave people with a smile on their face.”
Mission accomplished, though I for one won’t be intentionally listening to Christmas music until after Thanksgiving.
As for David’s holiday album, “Winter in the Air,” it hits iTunes and other sites Nov. 2. At the same time, David will release a four-song holiday EP in Spanish.
“Christmas Every Day” is one of three originals featured on the 12-song English album.
The album also features covers of “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, “White Christmas” and “Mary, Did You Know?”
I can only imagine all three will turn out wonderfully with David at the vocal controls.
David is also planning a 15-date holiday tour; nine of those dates are in the western U.S., though it does include stops in New York, Georgia and Florida. Check out all the tour information on David’s website.
This marks David’s second holiday album. Nine years ago, he released “Christmas From the Heart.”
David, of course, was runner-up on Season 7 of American Idol.
